Alkaline Prehydrolysis Prolongs Resin Life and Enhances the Adsorption of Phenolic Compounds

Phenolic compounds in oil wastewater are highly toxic and refractory. Hydrolysis at pH 12 for h makes these more vulnerable to attack destruction. Under the binding precipitation of polyaluminum chloride (PAC) 8, chemical oxygen demand (COD) was significantly reduced by 38%. The simulation found that hydrolysis + flocculation a complex multistep process. COD removal rate mainly controlled prehydrolysis metabolic pathway suggested m-cresol produced factory oxidized low water-soluble aldehyde. Alkaline converted aldehyde into m-toluene-methanol, which conducive being captured PAC.
